Is it legal to get a GLP-1 prescription online?

Yes, when done properly. US telehealth rules allow licensed clinicians to prescribe GLP-1 medications after a legitimate medical evaluation, provided the prescriber is licensed in your state. Every provider on this list works that way: a licensed clinician reviews your intake and can decline to prescribe.

Do these services take insurance?

Mostly these are cash-pay programs, though some help you run insurance for the medication itself. If you have coverage for weight-loss medication, it may be cheaper to go through your own doctor and pharmacy. Our cost guide walks through both routes.

Are these compounded or branded medications?

Both, depending on the provider. Several offer branded Wegovy, Zepbound, or Ozempic, and most also offer compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide prepared by state-licensed US pharmacies. Who should not use a GLP-1 medication?
